Solomon had finished building the house of the Lord and the king’s house, and all Solomon’s desire which he wanted to do 1 Kings 9:1

The king made silver as common in Jerusalem as stones, and he made cedar trees as abundant as the sycamores which are in the lowland. 2 Chronicles 9:27

And this is the reason for the labor force which King Solomon raised: to build the house of the Lord, his own house, the Millo, the wall of Jerusalem, Hazor, Megiddo, and Gezer. 1 Kings 9:15-19

If your Work was Great...Successful? Is the Point Success? (2:4-11) If your Possessions were Great? - If you business, position - huge (v.7) - If you had lots of money (v.8) - If you collected rare treasures (v.8) - If you had all the hot entertainment toys (v.8) If you had all this! (v.9-10) Success Does NOT Satisfy - illustrated (v.18-23)

Success Does NOT Satisfy 1) Find your life, your point in God

The thief does not come except to steal, and to kill, and to destroy. I have come that they may have life, and that they may have it more abundantly. John 10:10

Success Does NOT Satisfy 1) Find your life, your point in God 2) Enjoy your work - don’t live for it - “soul should enjoy good in labor” (v.24) - “heart rejoiced in all my labor and this was my reward from all my labor” (v.10) was my reward from all my labor” (v.10) - “heart rejoiced in all my labor and this was my reward from all my labor” (v.10) was my reward from all my labor” (v.10) ➺ Work is not bad - gift of God ➺ God given joy in doing work, well ➺ If you are not doing what God has for you, and what you enjoy... for you, and what you enjoy... why are you doing it? why are you doing it? ➺ If you are not doing what God has for you, and what you enjoy... for you, and what you enjoy... why are you doing it? why are you doing it?

Success Does NOT Satisfy 1) Find your life, your point in God 2) Enjoy your work - don’t live for it 3) Enjoy your stuff - don’t live for it - “Nothing is better for a man than that he should eat and drink and...enjoy ” (v.24) should eat and drink and...enjoy ” (v.24) - “Nothing is better for a man than that he should eat and drink and...enjoy ” (v.24) should eat and drink and...enjoy ” (v.24) ➺ Whatever you have - accept it as God’s gift, supply - accept it as God’s gift, supply rich or poor - doesn’t matter rich or poor - doesn’t matter ➺ Whatever you have - accept it as God’s gift, supply - accept it as God’s gift, supply rich or poor - doesn’t matter rich or poor - doesn’t matter

I have learned in whatever state I am, to be content: Philippians 4:11

I know how to be abased, and I know how to abound. Everywhere and in all things I have learned both to be full and to be hungry, both to abound and to suffer need. Philippians 4:12

I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me. Philippians 4:13

Let your conduct be without covetousness; be content with such things as you have. Hebrews 13:5

Let your conduct be without covetousness; be content with such things as you have. For He Himself has said, “I will never leave you “I will never leave you nor forsake you.” nor forsake you.” Let your conduct be without covetousness; be content with such things as you have. For He Himself has said, “I will never leave you “I will never leave you nor forsake you.” nor forsake you.” Hebrews 13:5

So we may boldly say: “The Lord is my helper; I will not fear. What can man do to me?” Hebrews 13:6

Command those who are rich in this present age not to be haughty, nor to trust in uncertain riches but in the living God, who gives us richly all things to enjoy. 1 Timothy 6:17

Let them do good, that they be rich in good works, ready to give, willing to share 1 Timothy 6:18

“No one can serve two masters; for either he will hate the one and love the other, or else he will be loyal to the one and despise the other. You cannot serve God and mammon. Matthew 6:24

“Therefore I say to you, do not worry about your life, what you will eat or what you will drink; nor about your body, what you will put on. Is not life more than food and the body more than clothing? Matthew 6:25

Look at the birds of the air, for they neither sow nor reap nor gather into barns; yet your heavenly Father feeds them. Are you not of more value than they? Which of you by worrying can add one cubit to his stature? Matthew 6:26-27

“So why do you worry about clothing? Consider the lilies of the field, how they grow: they neither toil nor spin; and yet I say to you that even Solomon in all his glory was not arrayed like one of these. Matthew 6:28-29

Now if God so clothes the grass of the field, which today is, and tomorrow is thrown into the oven, will He not much more clothe you, O you of little faith? Matthew 6:30

“Therefore do not worry, saying, ‘What shall we eat?’ or ‘What shall we drink?’ or ‘What shall we wear?’ For after all these things the Gentiles seek. For your heavenly Father knows that you need all these things. Matthew 6:31-32

But seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all these things shall be added to you. Matthew 6:33

Therefore do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry about its own things. Sufficient for the day is its own trouble. Matthew 6:34

Success Does NOT Satisfy 1) Find your life, your point in God 2) Enjoy your work - don’t live for it 3) Enjoy your stuff - don’t live for it
