To provide our missions outreach teams an opportunity to interact productively with their workers in a concentrated and focused arena. To inform the Brentwood Hills church of Christ family of our missions outreach efforts and encourage them to support and engage actively in our programs. To provide training and motivation by guest speaker Jerry Tallman for doing Christ centered evangelism with opportunities to reassess and develop vision. 2006 MISSIONS CONFERENCE And He said unto them, “Go ye into all the world and preach the gospel to every creature…..” The Church leaders coming to the Missions Conference represent some of the most productive efforts for Christ in the world today. Each is a leader impacting not just one congregation, but in every case, an entire country or a broader area. When you hear these brethren give brief focused reports on their work, you will know we are working with brethren who are worth knowing and supporting. Over recent years, at least 300 of us have visited one of these works and know just how exciting they are. Now these leaders are coming here and we can get to know and encourage them. At the various gatherings of the conference we will hear from each visitor just how God is working. Brentwood Hills budgets over $600,000 for missions, but with the cost of our trips and special contributions our actual support moves well on toward a million dollars per year. This Conference will radically enhance the evangelism of these brethren and their congregations. Additionally, being with them will bless our lives and our efforts for Christ in this community and with our families. Please, GO CAREFULLY over the schedule and plan to get the most from this opportunity. None of us has ever returned from a mission trip without feeling – that changed my life! Likewise, if you make time to get to know these coming and their work—you will never be the same again! MEET JERRY TALLMAN – Jerry Tallman is one of the most effective brothers we have for helping Christians develop a heart for evangelism and open doors to share with people we know. For 21 years he preached for the Rochester Hills Church in Michigan as it grew from about 300 to 1200- 1300. It is now the largest congregation of the Church of Christ in the north and, similar to Brentwood Hills, it is in a similarly affluent, well educated community adjoining the campus of Rochester College. The Rochester Hills congregation is made up of members who were led to Christ by Jerry through his involvement in the community and sports connections. Five years ago he asked his elders to select another pulpit preacher and let him spend full time focusing on evangelism and training others. In 2004, Jerry was with us for a Saturday morning seminar to give about 50 leaders, including most of the elders, a feel for his friendly approach to evangelism. Jerry has spoken often at the annual Tulsa Soul Winning Workshop and at a number of College Lectureships. He will be a speaker at the Pepperdine Lectures in May. After speaking at Brentwood Hills, Jerry and his wife, Connie, will go to Sunset International School in Lubbock, Texas where he will teach the next six weeks. His materials are used in many of the 26 extension schools Sunset has in 20 countries for training preachers and church leaders.
