Ag= deliberate modification of Earth’s surface thru crops and livestock Cultivate= to care for Vegetative planting= reproduction of plants by direct cloning of existing plants- planting stems and roots Seed agriculture= reproduction of plants by planting seeds. * most commonly practiced today

Vegetative Planting Origin- SE Asia Diffused to other areas of the world such as China, Japan, India, tropical Africa and the Mediterranean Seed agriculture Origin- more than one hearth 1) Western India, Northern China, and Ethiopia 2) Diffused to western India and SW Asia

Vegetative planting is the reproduction of plants by direct cloning from existing plants. The practice originated primarily in Southeast Asia, according to Carl Sauer. Two other early centers of vegetative planting were in West Africa and northwestern South America. From these hearths, the practice diffused to other regions.

Seed agriculture may have originated in several hearths, including western India, northern China, and Ethiopia. Southern Mexico and northwestern South America may have been other early hearths. Early advances were made in Southwest Asia.

Main difference bt agriculture in MDC and LDC is MDC practice commercial agriculture and in LDC they practice subsistence agriculture Subsistence agriculture= production of food primarily for self consumption. Commercial agriculture= production of food for sale off of the farm. Ask yourself, does it stay on the farm or does it leave the farm?

A priority for all people is to secure the food they need to survive. In less developed countries most people work in agriculture to produce the food they and their families require. In more developed countries few people are farmers, and most people buy food with money earned by working in factories or offices or by performing other services.
