1. Take Back the Tap September 15 th, 2010

2. Volunteers preparing for the event by unloading boxes The day started bright and early as volunteers unloaded the 50 boxes of reusable water bottles and freshened up on bottled water statistics.

3. Only a few of the 1,000 reusable bottles distributed Thanks to a grant by Texas State’s Environmental Service Committee, Take back the Tap was able to distribute 1,000 reusable water bottles to students and faculty so they could begin to make a difference right away.

4. Educating students on the negatives of bottled water Giving away bottles was only half the battle, we wanted to educate students and faculty so that it was a no brainer to stop wasting their money, endangering their health, and hurting the environment by consuming bottled water.

5. Taking back the tap one student at a time Volunteers were able to make students aware of the harmful chemicals involved with plastic bottles, the environmental impact of their bottled water consumption, and the safety of tap water in this region among other things.

6. Discussions raised by Take Back the Tap Throughout the day stickers, reusable bottles, and discussion about what made bottled water unsustainable were present throughout campus.

7. Throw away your trashy bottle and get yourself a classy bottle was the theme for the day

8. Recycled bottles and facts about bottled water Many students chose to recycle the water bottle they were using in exchange for a new reusable water after learning the many negatives involved with the bottle they were holding.
