A preposition is a part of speech. It tells about the how two things are related to each other. Examples: on, under, near, in

7 Prepositions The mouse is on the table. Two things: mouse and table on is a preposition.

9 Prepositions The mouse is near the table. Two things: mouse and table near is a preposition.

13 Root Words What is a root word? A word root is a part of a word. It contains the meaning of the word, but it cannot stand alone. The root contains the basic meaning.

14 Root Words Root words are used to make other words. Many English words can be traced back to Latin and Greek words.
