12 Careful reading 1. Who was Anne? What happened to her ? 2. What first aid did John perform on Anne?

13 1. Who was Anne? What happened to her ? Anne Slade, mother of three, had been stabbed repeatedly with a knife. She was lying in her front garden bleeding very heavily. Her hands had almost been cut off.

14 2. What first aid did John perform on Anne? John dressed Ms Slide’s injuries with tea towels and tapes and applied pressure to the wounds to slow the bleeding. Why did he use tea towels ? Nobody could put their hands on any bandage.

15 How did John get knowledge of first aid? John had taken part in the Young Lifesaver Scheme at his high school. The scheme was very important. It was John’s quick action and knowledge of first aid that saved Ms Slade’s life. It shows that a knowledge of first aid can make a real difference.
