2 "Land of the Gods" Habitat- birds, wild animal and endemic plant species. Two of India's largest rivers- the Ganges and the Yamuna Forest area of 34651 km 2 : 65% of the total area of the state. UNESCO World Heritage Site in Uttarakhand -Valley of flowers National Park and Nanda Devi Biosphere Reserve in Chamoli District National Park and Sanctuary- Jim Corbett, Rajaji, Govind Pashu Vihar. Economic Sources- Basmati rice, wheat, soybeans, Fruits like apples, oranges, pears, peaches, litchis, and plums. Total value of forest ecosystem services in Uttarakhand, India estimated to be US$ 2.4 billion per year

Programmes, which are bound to facilitates mainstreaming various adaptation measures, build resilience of vulnerable communities and households.

7  Evaluation of total carbon stock and annual increment for the state of Uttarakhand;  Monitoring the carbon fluxes of forests in various ecological and altitudinal zones;  RS-GIS analysis for the whole state to evaluate/monitor the carbon stock;  Ex-situ conservation of the genetic diversity of both flora and fauna;  Documentation of bio-diversity of various ecosystems and its monitoring;  Development of appropriate silvicultural techniques with climate change considerations;  Management of forest fires; and  Population dynamics and movement of wildlife. 13 Accolades UttaraKhand has been rated top in the Planning Commission Green Raking based on quality of air and water, waste management, forest cover and climate change. -The Economic Times, Nov 12 2012 Dehradun, Haridwar-Rishikesh and Chamoli- Gopeshwar In Uttarakhand, have been selected by Ministry of New and Renewable Energy (MNRE) as solar cities centre for promoting use of renewable energy
