6 6 Facts NC A&T is the highest producer of African-Americans with B.S., Master’s & Ph.D. degrees in Engineering among HBCUs PhD Program in Industrial Engineering is the only one of its kind at an HBCU Master’s in Computational Science & Engineering began Spring 2005 – the only program of its kind at an HBCU The School of Agriculture and Environmental Sciences is the largest agriculture school at an HBCU in the country.

16 16 Economic Development NC Research Campus $1 billion biotechnology research center involving industry/NC higher education institutions focused on human nutrition and plant-based foods science A&T’s Research Focus: Post-harvest technologies (about $9.7 million over 5 years) Millennium Campus –Partnership with UNCG for research, training and development with the potential for technology transfer and patents, the creation of revenue-generating companies and services to local and state agencies.

17 Economic Development: Small Business  Partnered with Triad Semiconductor to co-develop and test a prototype for Acoustic-Emissions Structural Health Monitoring (SHM) Network.  Technology encompasses two NC A&T patents SHM technology enables the detection of structural damage, determines severity, and pinpoints the damage location in aircraft and aerospace structures, pipelines, and bridges in real- time. 17
