The eEHIC CWA Profile The eEHIC CWA (CEN/CWA 15974:2009): provides an interoperability framework for the electronic health insurance card supports cross-border services supports both existing and new implementations is back-to-back compatible with ECC-3 (CEN/TS 15480-2) provides an interoperability framework for legacy systems which means:

Conclusion Patient/citizen electronic identification profiling in Europe is in an advanced state of maturity. Implementation lying ahead of us will show how successful this preparatory work has been.
