2. What is Ecstasy? Slang term for MDMA (methylenedioxymethamphetamine)
A synthetic, psychoactive drug that combines stimulant and hallucinogenic properties.
The most commonly used designer drug.
It is predominantly a “club drug” and is used at all-night dance parties known as “raves”.
Comes in a form of a capsule or powder but often in the form of a tablet that may vary in color.
Usually taken orally but can also be injected.
Was prepared as an appetite suppressant in 1914.
Was banned in 1985 and is currently classified as a schedule I Substance.

4. How is it used?
It is usually taken by mouth in a pill, tablet, or capsule.
Pills can be different colors and sometimes have cartoon-like images on them.
Some users take more than none pill at a time which is called “bumping”.

It has killed users as a result of heart stroke (from dancing for hours in a hot club) or mixing with alcohol and other drugs.
Using ecstasy can cause one to lose their self-control putting them at risk for becoming a victim of date rape, pregnant, or acquiring STDs, including HIV/AIDS.
MDMA can be addictive; Almost 60% of people who use it report withdrawal symptoms, including fatigue, loss of appetite, depressed feelings, and trouble concentrating.
Ecstasy use dropped significantly among persons 18 to 25-from 14.8% in 2003 to 13.8% in 2004 for lifetime use.
