2 Asha Berkeley Project Description  Location: Kishangarh, Qutub Institutional area (Delhi)  Area (urban/rural): Urban  Primary Focus: Children from slums (community - families of migrant workers)  Project Type: Formal school  Amount Requested (US$): ~$8200  Purpose of Funding Request: Teachers’ salaries+ transportation + uniforms  # of Beneficiaries: 4 teachers, 80 students (uniform)

3 Asha Berkeley Project Goals  Current Condition of Beneficiaries  children of the migrant laborers, who come to Delhi to make a living; first-generation learners  Short-Term Objectives  provide good, quality education to children from slums who would otherwise not be able to get access to such education  5-Year Vision (long term)  residential school for accelerated learning process, provide for vocational skills  Community Involvement  parent teacher meeting every month to discuss the progress of the child  counsel parents on the issues of health, nutrition and hygiene

4 Asha Berkeley School Details  Kishangarh location: Nursery, KG; 4 classrooms + office room + small courtyard, rented property  Qutab location: KG to Std. III, 4 classrooms + office room + computer room, premise offered by War Widows Association  High transportation cost to bring students from one location to another (4-5 kms)  No playground

5 Asha Berkeley  Holds two sessions in the learning center:  Morning: Nursery to Std. III  Evening: Remedial studies for students from Std. I to Std. IX and computer classes.  200 students (regular) + 75 students (remedial)  4 to 14 years
