3 Who we are UNICRI, The United Nations Interregional Crime and Justice Research Institute is an autonomous entity created by ECOSOC in 1968 to: Assist in formulating and implementing improved policies in the field of crime prevention and criminal justice Facilitate judicial assistance and international law enforcement cooperation Promote exchange and dissemination of information Advance understanding of crime-related problems Support respect for international instruments and standards Foster just and efficient criminal justice systems

4 The United Nations Campus in Turin A crossroad for training and applied research TURIN UNICRI is located in the UN Campus in Turin which also hosts ITC/ILO, International Training Centre of the International Labour Organization; and UNSSC, the United Nations System Staff College

5 UNICRI Programme The Programme of work arises from priorities identified by the UN Crime Prevention and Criminal Justice Commission ACTIVITIES: Research Collection and dissemination of information Training Technical cooperation Activities are designed to meet the identified needs of Member States

Complements the work of the Regional UN Information Centre for Europe in Italy Promotes the work and goals of the United Nations Provides support during the visits of the SG and other UN senior officials Undertakes advocacy and communication activities
