4 Employer’s Responsibility © 2014 wheresjenny.com Employer’s Roles and Responsibilities Employers must put in place the measures necessary for the safety and health of workers through an action plan for the elimination or control of risks. The action plan should include: 1. Commissioning, organizing and coordinating the assessment 2. Consulting workers’ representatives on arrangements for the appointment of those who will make the assessments 3. Providing the necessary information, training, resources and support to assessors who are the employer’s own employees

Involving management and encouraging the participation of the workforce 7. Determining the arrangements to be made for reviewing and revising the risk assessment 8. Ensuring that the risk assessment is documented 10. Monitoring the protective and preventive measures to ensure that their effectiveness is maintained 11. Informing workers and/or their representatives of the results of the assessment and of the measures introduced

Fit open able windows, doors and gates with safety devices if needed 2. Keep the workplace and equipment clean 3. Ensure that areas are big enough to allow easy movement 4. Inform about any potential hazards about chemicals or other substances used by firm 5. Prevent or control exposure to substances that may damage your health 6. Ensure that the right warning signs are provided and looked after 7. Provide workstations to suit the employees and the work

Make sure that ventilation, temperature, lighting, toilet, washing and rest facilities all meet health, safety and welfare requirements 11. Set aside areas for rest breaks and to eat meals, including suitable facilities for pregnant women and nursing mothers
