 Even though it is the closest planet to the sun it is still not the hottest planet because the temperature is uneven  The side of Mercury which is not facing the sun is extremely cold and the other side facing the sun is extremely hot  Mercury is the first planet of the solar system  Mercury is a part of a group of planets called the Rock Midgets

 It takes 88 days for Mercury to fully orbit the sun ones  The distance between Mercury and the sun is 57,900,000 km away from each other  For Mercury it takes it 59 days just for it to do 1 rotation  From Earth, Mercury looks just like an ordinary star just like all the other planets  Mercury has no life form on it and no atmosphere also!  Many astroids and meteorites hit Mercury all the time

 Mercury is mostly made up with mountains and craters  It has water ice left over from the crashing meteors and comets  70% of Mercury is made up of iron  The air on Mercury is packed with Carbon- Dioxide  The atmosphere is too thin on Mercury for it to carry heat to the other side or the other

 Mercury is about 4.95 billions years old, it is similar to Earth  Mercury is one of the oldest planet in our solar system because it orbits the sun in such a little time  Mercury takes 88 days to orbit the sun while Earth takes 365  Mercury takes about 4 months(Earth time) to orbit the sun

 Mercury has no weight  But Scientist has estimated that is could probably weighs about 3.3x10.23 kilograms

 Mercurys diameter is 4879 kilometres while Earth’s diameter is 12,756 kilometres  Mercury is just a bit larger than Earth’s moon  Mercury is now the smallest planet because Pluto is no longer an ordinary planet  Mercury’s diameter is 1404 kilometre more than the Moon’s diameter  Mercury may have fooled many people into thinking that it was the moon but they could tell that it wasn’t because it is a bit bigger than the moon and its an orangey colour
