There are prominent modern nations that have animal symbols matching these very beasts. The easiest to identify and the one that has to do with America in prophecy is the lion with eagle's wings. The lion and the eagle are familiar national symbols, found in dictionaries and encyclopedias and commonly used in news media. 12/28/0810AET-015 and 016

But I see at least three problems with this: 1. When wings are removed from an animal, the animal can conceivably live on but the wings will die apart from their host. Of course, this is the Mark of the Beast foretold in Revelation 13:16-18!
