2 Templar Law What not to do as Grand Commander

3 One Man – One Vote You only have one vote per person You cannot carry a proxy if you already have a vote Give proxy to a non-voting member

4 Titles- Use properly Do not use honorary title when referring to yourself ie: I am the Grand Master not the Most Eminent Grand Master No such thing as Sir Knight Grand Warder sb: Eminent Grand Warder

5 Officers Officers MUST be a member of the Grand Commandery ie: Past Commander or Dais Officer except Grand Prelate

6 Voting You must obtain a report from the Credentials Committee before you vote To determine the number of voting delegates present

7 Installation You MUST be at least a Past Commander of a Commandery to install the Officers of a Grand Commandery No Exceptions not Grand Master of a Grand Lodge for example

8 Honorary Titles Do NOT award Honorary Titles without the written permission of the Grand Master. Your request should be submitted to the office. If it is important plan ahead for Honorary Past Grand Commander Grand Recorder/Treasurer/Prelate Emeritus Do NOT call the office or GM during your Conclave for permission

9 Knight Templar Cross of Honor Submit to the Grand Recorder at least 60 days before your Conclave Signed by Commander and Grand Commander must come from Commandery not GC Document WHY the SK is worthy in Templary not that he has served all the bodies or that he has KYCH or active in GL etc….

10 Committees The Constitution of the GE Sec. 48b guarantees the GC the right to appoint all committees The Grand Commandery may not take away that right by mandating who may be on the committee, or what term they may have

12 Dispensations Do NOT dispense with the Constitutional number of nine Sir Knights for a Conclave

13 Dispensations Do NOT dispense with the statutes of Grand Encampment or of your Grand Commandery Do NOT dispense with bylaws of a Commandery except in certain circumstances

14 Special Conferrals of the Orders Do NOT make a Templar at sight Only the GM may do so Don’t call this GM because he will not

15 Grand Representatives Do NOT appoint a Grand Representative to anywhere except to another Grand Commandery under the jurisdiction of the Grand Encampment

16 Discipline Do NOT suspend or expel a Sir Knight for any reason Only a trial commission may do that You may remove an Officer from office

17 Discipline DISCIPLINARY RULES Section 209. In the conduct of all trials and all proceedings incident thereto, the Disciplinary rules adopted by the Grand Encampment shall be observed. DISCIPLINARY RULES Consisting of Rules Referred to in Section 209 of the Grand Encampment Statutes TRIALS AND PUNISHMENTS OFFENSES

18 Discipline Unless it is a charge specific to Templary, whenever possible, any charges should be referred to and trials conducted by the Grand Lodge of your jurisdiction. If, for example, it is a criminal offense or un-Masonic conduct, one trial by the Grand Lodge will cover all Masonic Bodies in the jurisdiction. It is cleaner and much more efficient.

19 Printing Ritual Grand Commanderies may not reprint the ritual in any format ie: to insert in Grand Commandery Tactics

20 Jewels Do NOT authorize a meritorious jewel to be worn on the right side of the uniform. The right side is limited to Grand Encampment jewels only.

21 Authority The Grand Commander may exercise all authority given to him under Section 48 of the Constitution. During the recess of the Grand Commandery, the Grand Commander may exercise all authority given to it under Section 41 of the Constitution This is why a Grand Commandery never closes, it is always open for business conducted by the Grand Commander. This is why the Grand Commander is the Chief Executive Officer and responsible for all actions of his Grand Commandery.

22 Be a smart Grand Commander Know what you can and cannot do Research the Constitution and Statutes of Grand Encampment and your Grand Commandery Ask knowledgeable Sir Knights Ask the Grand Encampment – –Department Commander, GE Office or Officer – –They will get you the proper answer
