1 Timothy 2:1-4 1 I urge, then, first of all, that petitions, prayers, intercession and thanksgiving be made for all people—2 for kings and all those in authority, that we may live peaceful and quiet lives in all godliness and holiness. 3 This is good, and pleases God our Savior, 4 who wants all people to be saved and to come to a knowledge of the truth.

2 Chronicles 7:14-15 14 if my people, who are called by my name, will humble themselves and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven, and I will forgive their sin and will heal their land. 15 Now my eyes will be open and my ears attentive to the prayers offered in this place.

Matthew 22:15-16a 15 Then the Pharisees went out and laid plans to trap him in his words. 16 They sent their disciples to him along with the Herodians.

Matthew 22:16b-17 “Teacher,” they said, “we know that you are a man of integrity and that you teach the way of God in accordance with the truth. You aren’t swayed by others, because you pay no attention to who they are. 17 Tell us then, what is your opinion? Is it right to pay the imperial tax to Caesar or not?”

Matthew 22:18-21a 18 But Jesus, knowing their evil intent, said, “You hypocrites, why are you trying to trap me? 19 Show me the coin used for paying the tax.” They brought him a denarius, 20 and he asked them, “Whose image is this? And whose inscription?” 21 “Caesar’s,” they replied.

Matthew 22:21b-22 Then he said to them, “So give back to Caesar what is Caesar’s, and to God what is God’s.” 22 When they heard this, they were amazed. So they left him and went away.

John 18:36 36 Jesus said, “My kingdom is not of this world…”

3 Wrong 1 Correct God alone is our authority
The state alone is our authority God and the state are both authorities, but the state is dominant God and the state are both authorities, but God is dominant (the Biblical view)

5 Assertions There are weaknesses in all political ideology, but NO weakness in Kingdom ideology. Don’t try to make politics a spiritual savior. Don’t try to make Jesus a political savior. There are four levels of government (self, family, Church, and Civil). Have them in the correct order of importance.

5 Assertions Vote the agendas that align the most w/God’s Kingdom and His Values.

Does my response to what’s happening around me politically matter?
