SRE is: Special Religious Education

The benefits of doing SRE

BENEFITS OF SRE SRE helps children explore their spiritual questions and the big issues of life, death and purpose. SRE contributes to Key Learning Areas of the curriculum. SRE gives children a chance to explore the Christian values and ethics that underpin our legal system and society. SRE gives children the opportunity to hear about Jesus, his teaching and God’s plan for our lives

BENEFITS OF SRE A knowledge of Bible stories enriches understanding of English language, art, music and literature. The words of the Bible are known to bring comfort and challenge at Anzac Day services, funerals and weddings. SRE is one of the few places that children systematically encounter the Bible! SRE teachers are often older and bring a valuable perspective on life to children who have little contact with the older generation.

BENEFITS OF SRE SRE gives children tools for times of crises like prayer and words of comfort from the Bible. SRE teachers are generally passionate volunteers, motivated out of deep conviction and foundational values. That’s something worth modelling to children! SRE gives children a good overview of the basic beliefs of the Christian faith so they can make a reasoned decision for themselves. SRE encourages moral development and spirituality
