2 Objectives Rationale for reorganization of staff resources. Review current organizational structure in Ed Services Department. Define new organizational structure, functions of responsibilities to support student and staff in Cambrian. 2

3 Rationale for Reorganization Improve level of support for students and staff. Teacher professional development surveys throughout the year and district committees’ feedback indicate the need for professional development support. Provide continuity of support, services and programs. Reallocate resources more effectively. Ed Services needs additional staff to provide quality ongoing support for student and staff. 3

5 Current Functions & Responsibilities of Assist. Supt. Of Educational Services Direct, organize, plan, oversee and supervise the operations of the District’s Preschool-8th grade instructional programs, instructional resources and special projects and implementation of California Common Core standards; Coordinate and oversee the District’s comprehensive assessment plan; Provide leadership and assistance in the areas of curriculum development and implementation, professional development, assessment, evaluation, categorical programs, community relations and the goals of the Educational Services department; Support the Superintendent to implement the District’s vision, mission and goals; 5

6 Other Responsibilities Provide leadership in the coordination of Preschool-8th grade programs in the following areas: Categorical Programs/Consolidated Application (CARS), Title I, Title III, EL, GATE, and Alternative Education Curriculum materials and technology Research and development Integration of technology District and school plans District visual and performing arts programs; Assessment and Accountability District Benchmark program Preschool-8th grade Testing materials Test preparation Report cards and online grading Data analysis Program evaluation Federal and State-mandated accountability programs (API, AYP, STAR, HSEE, CELDT, CMA, CAPA, etc.); 6

7 Other Responsibilities (Cont.) Coordinate instructional material resources including textbooks, media and technology; School Accountability Report Card; Materials and resources; LCAP, LEAP, and SPSA development; Coordinates the Federal, State and district-wide assessment programs; Assumes responsibility for providing, reviewing, evaluating, and reporting results of all federal, State, and district assessment programs to various stakeholders; Assists in the development of the philosophy, goals, objectives and evaluation of the District curriculum, instruction, assessment and categorical programs and provide coaching and staff development for various stakeholders; 7

Assists building level administrators and teachers in analyzing their school data to identify low-achieving students, design effective remediation and provide required information for state and local reports; Implements procedures for textbook screening and selection and provides for piloting of instructional materials; Participates in Program Quality Reviews, Coordinated Compliance Review, and Curriculum Audits; Provides leadership that promotes collaborative planning, innovative thinking and exemplary programs and services throughout the district; Provides highly visible educational leadership in local schools and the broader community; Assist in identifying instructional priorities for program development and improvement; develop strategies and training to support identified priorities; 8

Leads, develops and implements a Preschool-8th grade curriculum, based on California Common Core and district instructional priorities; Supervises and coordinates pupil reporting programs and services; Directs the communication and interpretation of current research and educational technology in curriculum as it applies to the school program; Provides leadership for maintaining and improving attendance and disciplinary procedures in the individual schools of the district; Provides leadership in the resolution of parent complaints, staff complaints, and operational problems. 9

11 Teacher on Special Assignment (TOSA) Responsibilities 1. Provides site leadership and support in the areas of academic focus. 2. Support with the implementation/coordination English Learner Program Coordination Tier II Interventions Additional & Extended Day Programs Gifted and Talented Education 3. Lead Professional Development S.T.E.A.M. Common Core integrated content lesson design Creates, models, and implement 21 st century instructional practices 4. Facilitating and Planning with Grade Level/Content Collaboration Learning Communities Instructional Rounds Vertical Articulation 5. Conduct demonstration lessons to model effective Common Core teaching strategies. 6. Provide on-going training and support for other teachers to build site level capacity as leaders of best instructional practices. 7. Performs other tasks and assumes other responsibilities as assigned. 11
