Maurits Cornelis Escher was a famous graphic artist. He was born on June, 17th, 1898 in the family of an engineer. In 1919 he went to School of architecture and decorative arts in Haarlem, but he left it and started drawing. During his life he travelled in Europe a lot and painted his great impossible works.

He painted ordinary things in fantastic and abstract way. For example you can’t see such stairs in real life and warriors don’t have a chance to go up or down using it. They have to go round.

It is considered to be one of the best works by Escher. The falls is painted as a perpetual motion machine. The towers seem to be the same hight but one of them has got three floors and the other has got only two floors.

A hand with a mirror sphere It represents a self-portrait of the artist in an extraordinary way.

Look at it and say if the lines are parallel. Nowadays there are a lot of artists who paint illusions. The illusion “Walls” by Richard Gregory can be seen in Bristol.

Impossible cube What is wrong in the cube? Where is the door opened inside or outside?

Look at the circles. They seem to be rotating. But they are immovable.

What is there in the painting? Can you see a baby in the painting? What is the man dreaming about?
