Does God authorize the use of instrumental music in worship? Remember: 1. Every thing we do in worship to God must be by a ‘thus saith the Lord”. Col. 3:17 I Pet. 4:11 2. We must accept God’s Word as our Complete guidance in our worship to Him. Matt. 7:21-23;
Noah and Gopherwood..Gen.6:14 Let’s go back to Noah’s day and Learn something about God’s Instructions!!
“Make yourself an ark of gopherwood;” Gen. 6:14a NKJV Noah and God’s command to use Gopher wood
God said Gopher Wood…. Gen. 6:14 Did God have to say it twice?? no…’faith cometh by hearing and hearing by the word of God Rom. 10:17 There is only 1 time mentioned in all the Bible about the specific Instruction to Noah to use gopher Wood! Gen. 6:14
Did God have to say ‘not pine, not oak, not Cedar, not poplar…etc? NO He said: Gopher Wood. Everything else Was excluded!!
Law of Exclusion Naaman 2 Kings 5:1-14 Jordan… He did not say: not Abana, not Pharpar.. no other river would be alright! Passover Lamb. Ex. 12:5 The ‘lamb’ was To be without blemish, a male of the first year: He did not say, “not a female’’ or Not a male that is 2 years old, not 3, etc. God said what he wanted…and everything else would be excluded when God specified!
What if Noah’s family had decided they thought that Oak should be used? If a vote was taken, and Noah had been the only one wanting to use gopher wood, With the other 7 voting for the use of oak, Would the majority be right! NO
To achieve UNITY, should Noah ignore what God said? What if they suggested that they use Both.. Gopher Wood and Oak … thus Producing unity! Should they Agree to disagree and use Oak and gopher wood? (Would you want to be on that ark?)
Let’s make some applications to our question of “Music”in worship.
Application ~ Kind of Music VocalMechanical Eph. 5:19 - “singing” Col. 3:16-17 - “singing” Heb. 13:15 - “the fruit of our lips”
What does the N.T. Authorize? Scripture Scripture Matt. 26:30 Acts 16:25 Rom. 15:9 I Cor. 14:15 Eph. 5:19 Col. 3:16 Heb. 2:12 Heb. 13:15 James 5:13 Sing Play Yes No
Look What the Bible Commands! God Commands: God Commands: Epht. 5:19 (Speak in Song;Make Melody in heart Col. 3:16 Teach in Song; Admonish in song Voice Instrument Can Cannot
Bible Commands I Cor. 14:15 Sing with the spirit Sing with the under- standing Heb. 2:12 Praise God Heb.13:15 Give thanks Voice Instrument Can Cannot
God’s Command! Sing? Sing? Yes Play Christ never commanded it. Holy Spirit never Authorized it. N.T. Writers never Endorsed it. N.T. church never Used it! NO BIBLE AUTHORITY FOR IT!

Can Unity be Attained by Singing and Playing Instrumental Music in worship to God? No unity with God! He said to ‘sing’!
What did God command under the law of Moses? God commanded Instrumental Music under The law of Moses: 1. Trumpets were to be blown over the burnt offerings and peace offerings. Num. 10:10; Num. 29:1-2 2.The use of instruments is commanded in Psalms 150. In 2 Chronicles 29:25 God makes it plain that their use was not simply a human invention,but a command of God.
2 Chronicles 29:25 And he set the Levites in the house of the LORD with cymbals, with psalteries, and with harps, according to the commandment of David, and of Gad the king’s seer, and Nathan the prophet: for so was the commandment of the Lord by his prophets.”
God omitted the use of the instruments of music in the worship of the N.T.church There is not one verse, not one example, not one fair inference that can be drawn from the New Testament connecting Instruments of music with the worship of the church here on earth.!!!! There is NO scripture for it!
Let us do what we can give a thus saith the Lord for,..and that’s all!
