Luke 2 : 8 - 14

Luke 2:8-9 (NIV) 8 And there were shepherds living out in the fields nearby, keeping watch over their flocks at night. 9 An angel of the Lord appeared to them, and the glory of the Lord shone around them, and they were terrified.

Luke 2:10-11 (NIV) 10 But the angel said to them, "Do not be afraid. I bring you good news of great joy that will be for all the people. 11 Today in the town of David a Savior has been born to you; he is Christ the Lord.

Luke 2:12-13 (NIV) 12 This will be a sign to you: You will find a baby wrapped in cloths and lying in a manger." 13 Suddenly a great company of the heavenly host appeared with the angel, praising God and saying,

Luke 2:14 (NIV) 14 "Glory to God in the highest, and on earth peace to men on whom his favor rests."

Q: Why did Jesus come at Christmas at the Light of the World? A: Because we need a Savior. Luke 2:8-14

Luke 2:10-11 (NIV) 10 But the angel said to them, "Do not be afraid. I bring you good news of great joy that will be for all the people. 11 Today in the town of David a Savior has been born to you; he is Christ the Lord.

Q: Why do we need a Savior? A: Because all of us have messed up. Luke 2:8-14

Romans 3:23-24 (TLB) 23 Yes, all have sinned; all fall short of God’s glorious ideal; 24 yet now God declares us "not guilty" of offending him if we trust in Jesus Christ, who in his kindness freely takes away our sins.

Q: How do we trust in Jesus? A: We accept Him as Lord and Savior. Luke 2:8-14

Romans 10:9-10 (NIV) 9 That if you confess with your mouth, "Jesus is Lord," and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved. 10 For it is with your heart that you believe and are justified, and it is with your mouth that you confess and are saved.

Romans 10:11 (NIV) 11 As the Scripture says, "Anyone who trusts in him will never be put to shame."

Merry Christmas!
