Stitching It All Together

Discussion Topics Peering and confederation Privacy principles Working with other sectors Virtual Organizations (VO's) Moving the world forward

More discussion How do we manage the WAYF need What attributes do we use How much do we try to control semantics What LOA do we use Virtual organization support Change of contracts Dispute resolution Impact of international peering

Peering and confederation Peering versus confederation vs hybrid vs ? Flows that matter Assertions LOA, attribute mapping Metadata Liability, dispute resolution, money, privacy Leveraging existing relationships and MOU Transitivity WAYF issues What do we have to tell users/campuses when we peer

Why to peer versus join? A set of natural applications Create brand Save money Separate LOA Separate attributes (not really) Make it easier to set-up Contractually Privacy management

Privacy principles Informed consent and minimal disclosure No aggregation of attributes by Service Provider ???

Working with Other Sectors Which? When? How? Corporations – Elsevier, MS, ??? Health Sector Government

Virtual Organizations Domain-specific tools (e.g. GridShib) National vs international grids Collaboration tools (wikis, IM, Sympa, videoconferences. Audioconferences, shared calendars, etc...) Who is having problems? Is it a finite set?

Moving the world forward What must we do the same? What can we do different? Technically Policy Cutover to SAML 2.0 Where do future conversations take place Is this still the business of TF-EMC2 ? Is this still the business of geeks? Who are the legitimate participants How do we stay linked with important applications such as Grids?

A Few Final Thoughts Thank you, Vic and Terena We have come a very long way The real pay-offs are still ahead Sometimes the needs of our community are not different from the other sectors, but just ahead of the curve. This is getting bigger than we are... Everyone's English has really improved, except perhaps mine...
