2. What to expect…. Binders- We will have daily binders similar to what 1 st grade uses. Homework- Different classes assign homework in different ways. All will have math & reading. Reading Logs- Each night you will need to write down the book/pages read & sign your child’s reading log in their binder.

3. Math…things to know Addition/Subtraction facts to 18 Ones/Tens Place Value Counting change (pennies, nickels, dimes) Tell time to the half hour Know basic shapes Recognize simple patterns

4. Reading Sequencing a story & being able to retell the beginning, middle, & end Read on a 1.8 AR level Explain the difference between fiction/non-fiction & fact/opinion Retell major details of a story (character, setting)

5. Phonics We do SLB! Consonant letter sounds Short vowels Long vowels Silent E Rule ex. Bake

6. Language Write full name Write address/phone number Write a complete sentence with a capital letter & ending mark
