2 Business Academy in Ružomberok was created in 1992 due to the region´s requirements.The school worked under the leadership of Secondary Technical School in Ružomberok for five years. In 1997 the school became independent.  Characteristics of the school :  secondary professional school  four–year study  provides a complete secondary specialized education in the fields of economic subjects, IT and computing science  offers also general education in subjects such as the Slovak language, foreign languages, history, geography, mathematics, biology and ecology etc. History and focus Competitions, Clubs Curriculum School leaving exam Career Perpectives Acknowledgements School opportunities

3  School Opportunities  In the field of information and communication technology Business Academy is equipped with the latest and the most up-to-date technology.  The interior of the school is established with the Cultural- Informative Centre (KIC) aimed at the needs of the students who can use it in their free time and during the school breaks. 4 Business Academy in Ružomberok gives attention to gifted and talented students within various Olympiads and competitions. Our students have achieved success in various language and sports competitions such as football and volleyball competitions. The great attention is paid to organisation of the students´ free time, in order to support their individual interests and skills. 8 Four-year study is finished with the school-leaving exam which includes: external part internal part  External part (written) – is taken from: Slovak language and literature Foreign languages  Internal part of the school-leaving exam – consists of these compulsory subjects: Slovak language and literature Foreign language ( English or German) Economy - consisting of a practical and theoretical section. Practical section – written, represents the skills and knowledge of the graduate-to-be in the areas of administration and correspondence, applied informatics, accounting and economical exercises. Theoretical section of the school leaving exam (oral) concentrates on the complex knowledge in the areas of Micro and Macro Economics, Market and Non-market subjects, Personnel and Administrative law, Economic Geography and Science of Commodities optional subjects Mathematics Foreign language History and focus Competitions, Clubs Curriculum School leaving exam Career Perspectives Acknowledgements Informatics School leaving exam in foreing languages

9 S CHOOL LEAVING EXAM IN FOREIGN LANGUAGES  In 2004 a Rehearsal Examination of a New Concept of School Leaving Examination was implemented  Each pupil has a possibility to choose the level of examination either B1 or a higher level B2 Maturita exam consists of two parts: 1. EXTERNAL PART % 2. INTERNAL PART Test : includes 3 parts -Listеning comprehension -Language in use -Reading compehension (duration: 100 min B1/ B2 120 min) 33,3% Oral exam: (20 min) - visual input (5 min) - discussion about a topic of 25 topics (10 min) - simulation /role play (5 min ) 30% Writing – letter,essay (60 min) at least 180 words

10 Career perspectives of the graduates  Business Academy graduate can find his/her job in these areas in the areas of executive workers, middle management of the production companies, banking, insurance, business and tourism in budgetary and contributory organisations, public administration focusing on economics, accounting and secretarial activities in the entrepreneurial area specifically in the sphere of accounting, services and trade in the field of the tourist business as the certified tour guides  University study - the graduate is also prepared to be able to enter a certain type of tertiary education, to university or to a school of higher education economically oriented universities and colleges faculties of law philological faculties History and focus Competitions, Clubs School subjects School leaving exam Career perspectives Acknowledgements School opportunities
