Helps us to prepare for change (e.g., economic and technological changes) Provides direction, guidance, and a common framework for planning and for decision-making Helps us understand and address current and future stakeholders needs

Environmental Scan June-October Focus Groups September SWOT Analysis October Draft Vision, Mission, Goals, Objectives, KPIs October - December Communicate & obtain input on mission, goals, etc. November - March Complete first Draft of Plan January Create Process to Implement Plan January - March Finalize Plan April

7 Environmental Scan (Jun – Oct)
Purpose: Gather data and information (external and internal) Identify relevant trends Basis for SWOT Analysis Process: Cross-functional team of about 40 employees Established four subgroups Each subgroup gathered data/information on a specific topic. Subgroups identified trends and implications.

8 Focus Groups (September)
Purpose Obtain information from internal and external stakeholders Process Several focus group sessions will be scheduled There will be focus groups conducted for employees, students and community Information from groups summarized

9 Strategic Planning Group (September)
A cross-functional Strategic Planning Group (SPG) will be established. The SPG will be chaired by the president The SPG will include representatives from: Senates, Councils and SGA Lakeshore & Southlake Campus Student Development, Ed. Affairs, Administrative Affairs, HR and Public Relations Environmental Scan Group & IEPR

10 SWOT Analysis (October)
The SPG will use Environmental Scan and Focus Group data to identify: Strengths Weaknesses Opportunities Threats

11 Draft Vision, Mission, Goals, Objectives & KPIs (October - December)
The Strategic Planning Group will use the SWOT to draft: Vision Statement Mission Statement Goals Objectives Key Performance Indicators (KPIs)

12 Communication & Input (November - March)
The process will be transparent SPG representatives will communicate updates to their constituents Drafts of the Strategic Plan will be communicated to stakeholders SPG representatives will seek input on the Strategic Plan draft.

13 First Strategic Plan Draft (January)
The first draft of the strategic plan will include: Highlights SWOT Analysis Vision, Mission, Goals and Objectives Institutional Key Performance Indicators Strategic Plan

14 Implementing Plan (January - March)
Processes and infrastructure needed to implement the plan will be established. An annual planning calendar A process for implementing A monitoring process

15 Final Strategic Plan Draft (April)
The final draft of the strategic plan will be completed by April. Board Approval will be sought Final Plan will be communicated to stakeholders (internal & external Final Strategic Plan
