13. 13 Supporting children with substance abuse challenges As of July 1, 2013 the Children’s System of Care: Authorizes youth who meet specific criteria to receive substance use treatment services from any of 15 service providers contracted with the CSOC Provides services including outpatient, intensive outpatient, partial care, short & long term residential treatment, and sub-acute detoxification Children’s System of Care Substance Abuse Services for Children and Adolescents

Children’s System of Care Substance Abuse Services for Children and Adolescents Eligibility Ages 13 up to 18 th birthday New Jersey residents Meet criteria for substance abuse treatment based on standardized assessment (American Society of Addiction Medicine or ASAM) Other means of funding (e.g. private insurance) exhausted Youth actively involved with: Division of Child Protection & Permanency (DCP&P) Juvenile Court (identified Court/Probation agents) Care Management Organization (CMO) Mobile Response & Stabilization Services (MRSS ) Families and youth may also contact PerformCare directly to confirm eligibility for services 14

Children’s System of Care Pathways to Collaboration County Inter-Agency Coordinating Council (CIACC) CIACC County-based organization comprised of local public and private child-serving agencies, families/caregivers, and youth Exist in all 21 counties Identify local needs and service gaps Advise DCF on development and maintenance of a responsive, accessible, and integrated system of care CIACC Educational Partnership Cross-systems training and network-building initiative to increase collaboration among schools, DCF, and other public and private child-serving agencies Help ensure children and families are connected to child protective, behavioral health, developmental disability, addiction, and other services quickly and efficiently 15
