2 Learning Objectives At the end of this workshop students will be able to: ◦ Define Risk Management and how it applies to their Sport Club members, facility, equipment, and events ◦ Identify at least 3 types of risk to be aware of when your Sport Club is active ◦ Explain at least 3 different ways to reduce risk in their Sport Club members, facility, equipment, and events ◦ Inform all members of their group regarding their Sport Club’s Emergency Action Plan

3 What is Risk Management? The control of financial and personal injury loss from sudden, unforeseen, unusual accidents and intentional torts (Ammon, 1993) A management strategy to increase control over legal uncertainty that may wreak havoc on a sport business (Wong & Masteralexis, 1998) Reducing exposure to danger, harm, or hazards that lead to lawsuits (Mulrooney & Farmer, 1998)
