4 Module 1: The History and the Future of the Web LESSON 3 Intellectual Property  Product of one’s intellect  Protected by federal law  Includes movies, film, music, poems, plays, photographs, paintings Copyright  It is illegal to use copyrighted material  Copyright laws always apply to a work unless explicitly waived or used according to the published terms such as with Creative Commons License  Always get permission

Both terms must be found in order for the document to be identified.  OR - an exclusive operator. Either/or of the terms listed can be found in order for the document to be identified.  NOT - an exclusive operator. The word after NOT (-) is excluded from the sites identified.  NEAR - a proximity operator. A proximity operator determines the closeness of terms within the text of an identified document. NEAR is a restrictive AND.
