3. Introduction  ‘Goodbye’ is what we say when we are about to leave.  ‘See you again’ is also a term that we might say when we are leaving. 3

4.  Jesus Overcomes Temptation 4

8. Luke 4:13 13 When the devil had finished every temptation, he left Him until an opportune time. 8

9. 9  But the account in Luke highlights that he was leaving only to return again in the near future.

10. 10 Matthew 12:43-45 (Read also Luke 11:24-26) 43 “Now when the unclean spirit goes out of a man, it passes through waterless places seeking rest, and does not find it. 44 Then it says, ‘I will return to my house from which I came’; and when it comes, it finds it unoccupied, swept, and put in order. 45 Then it goes and takes along with it seven other spirits more wicked than itself, and they go in and live there; and the last state of that man becomes worse than the first. That is the way it will also be with this evil generation.”

26. Conclusion:  Jesus is baptized and led by the Holy Spirit to be tempted by the devil.  Jesus encounters every temptation thrown by the devil with Word of God.  He finally overcomes these temptations and He rebukes the devil.  The devil departs with to return again in the future 26
