And History Established 1867 as the Illinois Industrial University Renamed the University of Illinois in 1885 It is a public research-intensive university the second oldest public university in the state, second to Illinois State University, and is a founding member of the Big Ten Conference The University is in the twin cities of Champaign and Urbana Ranked 13th among public universities in the nation

3 Applying and Requirements Two Ways to Apply: Apply online/Submit a paper application to the university Self-Reported Academic Record (SRAR) –it is online form on which applicant provides information found on official high school transcript, like courses taken, level of courses taken, and grades. Do not accept letters of recommendation. ACT/SAT score vary on program entering, but usually lowest is 25/1170 respectively Two essays, extracurricular activities, etc.

4 Majors and Minors The university comprises 17 colleges that offer more than with more than 150 undergraduate and more than 100 graduate and professional programs Amongst them there is the College of Engineering and Business which is most identified with the university The College of Engineering is ranked 5th in undergraduate and graduate programs nationally The College of Business is ranked 14th in undergraduate programs nationally
