11 2. Overview of Main Players Revelation 12:1-6 A “Translated Reading” of Revelation 12:1-6 1 A vision appeared to me: I saw Israel as she was represented in Joseph’s dream found in Genesis chapter thirty-seven. 2 Israel was pregnant and cried out in pain as she was about to give birth. 3 Then another vision appeared to me: I saw Satan in way that was similar to the dream of Daniel chapter seven. 4 Satan’s influence swept a third of the angels out of heaven and flung them to the earth. Satan stood in front of Israel who was about to give birth to the Messiah, so that he might devour Christ the moment he was born. 5 Israel gave birth to Jesus the Messiah as prophesied in the Hebrew Scriptures, and after His resurrection he ascended to heaven and now sits on God’s throne. 6 Soon after Christ’s ascension, His believers had a ‘wilderness experience’ on earth for a specific period of time, but the Lord made sure that they were cared for.
