2 7 November 2000 PeNSE IEE Proposal for Professional Network for Systems EngineersSlide 2 Background and Scope Background –IEE is re-organising its Knowledge Services as Professional Networks. Scope –Based on ISO/IEC 15288 “Life Cycle Management – System Life Cycle Processes”. –Encompasses systems and processes involving humans, hardware and software enablers, spans their design, modelling, analysis, implementation, operational evaluation, disposal and replacement. Timing –Current proposal available from IEE web-site (http://www.iee.org.uk/Industry/PN/pnlist.htm). –Launch 1 April 2001.

3 7 November 2000 PeNSE IEE Proposal for Professional Network for Systems EngineersSlide 3 Objectives The promotion of excellence and best practice in Systems Engineering to all interested organisations or parties, regardless of relative size or financial capabilities.  To foster a greater appreciation of processes, methods, tools, techniques;  To assist with systems engineering standards, capability models, competency frameworks, accredited education and training;  To advance engineering scientific theory underpinning Systems Engineering;  To develop the professional engineering skills of the IEE membership;  To inform those involved in the procurement, acquisition and development;  To protect users, the general public and the environment.  To create a technological home for all types of Systems Engineers.
