What is discrimination? Discrimination is where someone is treated unfairly because of there race, what they believe in, or just generally them as a person. The types of discrimination are : Sex discrimination Pregnancy discrimination Breastfeeding discrimination Race discrimination Age discrimination Marital or domestic status discrimination Homosexual discrimination Disability discrimination Transgender (Tran sexuality) discrimination Careers' responsibilities discrimination Discrimination because of who you are related to, or who you associate with

Sex discrimination, is when some is treated unfairly or harassed because of there gender, (if you’re a woman or a man) example of this is, A woman goes for a job, and she more qualified then the man who goes for the job, but the employer is looking for a man so he employs the man, this is discrimination because he has unfairly employed the man, when the woman is better for the job, because she didn’t get it just because she is a girl. This affect tourism because people who are tourist are both female and male, so the people serving them should be both female and male as well Pregnancy discrimination: is where someone is treated unfairly because they are pregnant example of this are: You are pregnant and hoping to go a train to south Australia from Melbourne, you are going to book the ticket, when the lady says you cant because your pregnant so you ask why ? And she says because u should be staying at home, this is discrimination because she has not reason to not let on the train expect that you are pregnant, this is unfair treatment. This relates to tourism because we may need help pregnant people in the tourism industries with either leaving work and coming back or while there traveling pregnant.

Breasting discrimination: is when you are unfairly treated because you are breastfeeding or expressing milk, or arranging to do so example of this are : a woman is breasting her child in a restaurant and she ask to leave because she is breasting feeding her child, this Is discrimination because the mother has done anything wrong and shouldn't asked to leave. This relates to tourism because we may be working in a restaurant where, someone might be breast feeding. Race discrimination : is where someone is treated unfairly because of there color or background, religion. Examples of this are, a lot of Japanese tourist walk past a group of Australians school kids, and the kids tell out things that were abusive to the Japanese about the cultural background, this is discrimination because they are just yelling at them because of the way they are this relates to tourism because people in tourism are dealing with all different types of people from all over the world. Age discrimination : is when some is treated unfair because of there age, example of this : a 78 year old man wants to go sky diving you’re the booker and you say aren't u a bit old, this is discrimination because he may be fit enough to jump, and because you’re the booker its not your place to say who can and cant go sky driving. This affects tourism because people who are working in this industries have to deal with people in all age groups.

Marital discrimination: is when you are treated unfair because you are married, single, example of this is where a married lady and a single lady go for a job at a topless bar, the married doesn't get the job because she is married, and might have a baby soon, this is discrimination because she has been treated unfairly because she is married, this relates to tourism because someone who is married may want a job in the industry Homosexual discrimination: Is where someone is unfairly treated cause they are gay or lesbian, or if some thinks you are, example of this is: a gay man is wanting into a pub with all straight people but isn't allowed because the door man believes he is gay, this is discrimination because he isn't allowed in because of which gender he likes in bed, this relates to tourism because a homosexual person may need you services or be in employed at your work place. Disability discrimination when you are treated unfairly because you have a disability, or someone thinks you are disabled. Disability includes physical, intellectual and psychiatric disabilities, learning and emotional disorders, and disease. Example a man want to use the swimming pool but cant with his career, when is able to swim and get there by himself, but because the pool rule is no disabled people with a career this limits the amount of times he goes to the pool, his disability is he is in a wheel chair, this is discrimination because he doesn’t have the same rights to the pool as someone you isn't in a wheel chair, this relates to tourism because we may need to help people with disabilities have a good holiday.

Transgender discrimination: when you are treated unfairly because you are transgender or others think you are. Example of this you’re a organizing a woman's event and a transgender wants to come but you say no because there not full female, this is discrimination because they aren't either therefore and can go in either. This affects tourism because we must help them with there needs just like other people. Careers' responsibilities discrimination: when you are treated unfairly (in employment only) because you are responsible for caring for or supporting some adults or children, or others think you are. This relates to tourism because some may need to care for someone why they are traveling Discrimination because of who you are related to, or who you associate with when you are treated unfairly or harassed because of the sex, pregnancy, race, age, marital or domestic status, homosexuality, disability, transgender status because of the people you associate with.
