2 To Do List before Group Advising  Complete new ISET Graduation Requirements Form according to unofficial transcript   www.unco.edu/iset --> Forms and Resources www.unco.edu/iset  ISET Graduation Requirements Form  Update your four-year plan  Check URSA account for ‘Holds’ and registration date  Check for transfer credit accuracy

3 Important Information – CRN#  You are encouraged to check out the CRN# for classes  Valuable information can be found by clicking on the CRN# for any class:  Location, days, times class meets on campus  Prerequisites  Method of instruction  Required fees, field experience hours, etc…  Notes specific to the course  Link to view the catalog entry for the course

4 GPA is Very Important! 3.0 cumulative GPA is a prerequisite for the following courses: EDEL 445/446 Literacy Block EDEL 450 Math and Social Studies Methods EDEL 453/454 Student Teaching Consider course repeat if needed

5 ESL Information  ESL concentration requires  Document language background Contact lilian.cibils@unco.edulilian.cibils@unco.edu  Take PLACE Test for ESL Endorsement but not prior to student teaching

6 Reading Minor  It is easy to add a reading minor with the following courses:  EDRD 314 (required for ISET major)  EDRD 319 (required for ISET major)  EDRD 340  EDRD 410 (option in the language arts concentration)  EDRD 411 (prerequisite – EDRD 410)  One of the following:  COMM 223 (option for area 7 – LAC)  COMM 350  EED 342

7 EDFE 120 Registration  Registration for EDFE 120:  Semester prior to the Practicum Block  Even if you do not presently have the required GPA (3.0), but anticipate you might

8 EDEL 445/446 Request For Literacy Practicum Placement Register for EDFE 120 semester prior to practicum Placement requires a Cumulative GPA of 3.0 Completed or currently enrolled in EDEL 350 Proof of registration for PLACE or PRAXIS II Partner Schools need:  Resume- Check Career Services website for assistance  One-page letter to cooperating teacher ** Preference for placements are NOT guaranteed

9 PLACE or PRAXIS II  See PRAXIS II on ISET website  PLACE/PRAXIS II Brochures in ISET Office or in Forms on ISET website  Take one year prior to Student Teaching  Practice/Review material available online www.ets.org/praxis/register or at a bookstore and ISET Library www.ets.org/praxis/register  Print scores immediately  Score availability expires

12 Be a Volunteer ! Teacher Employment Days  Teacher Employment Days (TED) April 5 & 6  More than 100 school districts from approximately 14 states will be represented  First-hand opportunity to observe the process of teacher candidate interviews  Volunteers are needed in numerous areas:  Greeting  Refreshments  Directions/information * Details will be sent via the Listserv

13 Registration  Registration for Summer 2012 begins April 2  No PIN# required  If applicable please check with Financial Aid regarding summer funding
