9. Organic Compounds
To understand life on Earth, you must first understand organic compounds. 
Organic compounds contain carbon which can be bonded to hydrogen, sulfur, nitrogen, oxygen and/or phosphorus. 
There are millions of different organic compounds. 
There are organic compounds that make up your hair, your skin, even your fingernails. 
All life as we know it is made up of organic compounds. 

10. Organic vs. Inorganic
In science, Organic can be a biological or chemical term.
In Biology it means any thing that is living or has lived.
In Chemistry, an Organic compound is one containing Carbon atoms. The opposite term is Inorganic.

11. Organic Requirements Organic Compounds have the following properties:
1. MUST contain Carbon (C)
2. Must have a C-H bond (carbon-hydrogen).
3. Carbon may also be combined with
Sulfur (S), Oxygen (O), Nitrogen (N), and/or Phosphorus (P)
4. Living or from something that was living
