2008 Summary  Process of merging.   Small school- Only 5 grades this year.  Declining enrolment  Merging with Keon Park in 2009  We have one learning leader/principal support  Keon Park is not involved in the A.I.Z Project

2008 Summary Improving Literacy Standards and Developmental Management strategies  Staff Professional Learning Meetings- Focusing on HRLTP’s.   Learning Leader modelling strategies in classrooms P-6.  Area meetings held to discuss strategies and reflect on teaching practise.  Staff sharing ideas and expertise.  All staff trialling strategies in classrooms.

RESERVOIR VIEWS 2009.  Burbank/Keon Park merging- A new school, a new identity.   2008- Joint curriculum days {1 per term} Joint staff meetings {2 Per term}. The purpose of our joint meetings has been to: develop an integrated planner for Term 1, 2009 Share/audit resources Plan shared student experiences Involve staff from both schools in decision making processes

Reservoir Views : These are some of the challenges we face:  Selection of a new principal to lead the school  Involvement of Keon Park Staff in the A.I.Z.Project.  Delivering the PD focus to new staff.  We could start with our whole school focus being improving literacy and numeracy standards but after attending the PD presented by Ramon Lewis, Behavioural Management and Discipline needs to be aligned.  How will new groups of students react with each other?  What classroom discipline policy does each school have and can these be improved?

Reservoir Views Behavioural Management  For the first time many of us will be teaching new students..  We need to have a whole school approach to behavioural management and discipline.   Whole school approach on developing positive relationships with students, parents, colleagues.  We will all need an understanding of A,B,C and D students and share equal understandings of behaviour management issues.

Reservoir Views We have already achieved an Integrated Planner for Term 1- 2009   Incorporates Start Up Program Grade Values, Mission Statement, Procedures. Grade Expectations 1.Students have the right to do as much learning as possible. Therefore…… 2.Students and the teachers have the right to feel comfortable and safe in the classroom. Therefore…  Planner encourages students to become Communal Learners. Incorporates the PATHS Program which provides a consistent whole school approach to supporting students’ social and emotional development. Asks students to identify behaviours associated with becoming a five star student or to have the ability to produce five star work. Asks students to identify what makes a good teacher and to discuss the type of learning environment needed to optimise their learning.

Further Plans For Reservoir Views  By mid Term 4 a new principal will have been selected for Reservoir Views  Burbank P.S. and Keon Park finish school a week earlier than normal. This early finish and the additional three planning days at the start of next year will be used to:   Pack up and move into a new school  Set up the learning environment.  Present the Developmental Management Strategies to staff.  Provide opportunities for staff to share ideas and expertise.  Develop a student welfare and discipline policy in preparation for staff to improve student outcomes in literacy and numeracy.

A PATHS KID of the week is selected in the grade. They hold special responsibilities. At the end of each week all students in the grade reflect on ways that the PATHS KID demonstrated responsibility.
