2 2 Professional Development Program Summary  Three core program components:  Business rotation assignments through 3- 4 functional areas (12-24 months each) which may include: √Underwriting √Claims management √Enrollment  Programmatic training and development throughout program which may include: √Classroom/self-study training: Professionalism at work, supervisory skills, product knowledge, project management, communications, presentation skills √Field office visits and broker sales calls √Aspiring Leaders Program √Ad hoc project work √Other training and development forums as appropriate: e.g. Finance Symposium, Sales Schools, Lean Six Sigma training  1x1 leadership level mentorship for individual developmental and guidance throughout the duration of the program.  Ideal Candidates: Very high potential, graduating college seniors in targeted majors of economics, math, accounting, engineering, finance, and business who have demonstrated academic success and leadership capabilities. √3-5 participants per year √4-6 year formal program √Continual re-qualification process between business assignment rotations with ultimate outcome objective to move into Director/AVP role upon completion of the program Functional Job Rotation Assignments Training & Development Mentorship Professional Development Program Program Objective: To build and enhance a talent pipeline with top performing, high potential individuals with potential to become future leaders of the company. √ Finance √ Marketing & products development √ Customer Service #251 of Fortune 500 Over 10,000 employees $6 billion in benefits paid Over 25 million protected Equity value of $7.3 billion 2007 revenues of $10.5 billion

5 5 Mentorship  Each participant will be assigned a leadership level mentor (VP) for their individual developmental and guidance for the duration of the program.  Mentor Role:  Takes the initiative to build and strengthen the relationship  Provides individualized guidance and support to program participants  Supports participant in networking and navigating the company  Provides broad perspective of company, vision, and business strategy  Provides feedback and advice as appropriate  Recommends opportunities for continuous learning and improvement  Assist participants in identifying obstacles and how to take appropriate action to overcome them  Encourages participant to experiment outside of his/her comfort zone  Gives participant the benefit of mentor business experience  Provides input on participant assessment and re-qualification throughout program

6 6 Professional Development Program Program Summary Highlights Work for the leader in the employee benefits marketplace. Complete 3-4 cross functional job rotations over the course of 4-6 year timeframe. Business area rotations may include Claims Management, Underwriting, Customer Services, Enrollment, Finance and Marketing. Job rotation assignments may vary from 12-24 months depending on the role, complexity and business needs. ―Programmatic training and development which will include a variety of venues such as classroom, self-study, field visits and project-based work which will occur throughout the duration of the program. Leadership level (VP) mentor assigned for the duration of the program to support you in your individualized professional growth and development plans. You will assume an active role in managing an important aspect of the business related to your assignment. You will also provide feedback, suggestions and recommendations regarding process improvements, policies and procedures to the business areas as they proceed through the program. Work with management during business rotations to gain deeper knowledge of each function, the day-to-day operations and interconnects with other parts of the business. Work on and/or lead special projects, as assigned, that require research and analysis. May involve partnering with other business areas to identify and resolve issues. Continuous assessment of established training and work processes to identify areas for effectiveness and efficiency improvements. Contribute to operating effectiveness through information sharing, suggested process improvements and effective implementation of change.
