2. Monthly Seminar Topics for your to rate: 16 topics Challenges to Educators in the New Medical School Curriculum. Presentations by some of the architects of the process, with group discussion. Peer Review Training. Learn how to observe and provide feedback to your peer educators. Educational Value Unit Programs. Presentations by faculty in Surgery, Family Medicine and Emergency Medicine outlining the process and faculty responses to their methods of rewarding teaching. Scholarship Showcase. Three or four faculty present their academic projects in education (either completed or in-progress), followed by discussion. 3. Teaching Innovations Showcase. Three or four faculty present an educational innovation for discussion. Sources of Grant Support for Educational Research, Innovation, and Projects. Presentation by Dean’s office, Center for Learning and Teaching, and others, outlining ways to get money and help with educational programming and research. Building a strong educational portfolio / getting promoted on your educational strengths. Panel of ‘experts’—promotion committee, the recently promoted: solicitation of letters, examples of CV’s that made or didn’t make the cut. Finding Collaborators and Mentors. An ‘open house’ where potential collaborators and mentors mingle, while wearing large name tags with the type of projects they are interested in or experienced with. 4. Small Grants Showcase. Later in the year brief reports from the faculty who received the small grants for educational programming or research. Visiting Professor. A session devoted to a key figure in medical education / another Academy. Would have to be someone of high reputation. Suggestions: _________ Hot Topic Debate. Example: “What’s wrong with industry / pharma supporting education?” Panel of Educational Consumers. Panel of medical Students, house officers, other learners discuss what are their best/worst educational experiences and how the current changes in schedules, experience and limits effect their learning.
