4 Serving the Small Group Small group leading is an opportunity to regularly serve a handful of younger brothers in Christ. Small group leading is small group serving

5 Jesus’ Ministry vs. Small Group Leading Jesus had a lot on his plate as he took on the additional responsibility of healing Jairus’ daughter Most of you will have a lot on your plate if you small group lead Jesus made time to care for a woman who needed him You must make time to care for your small group that needs you

7 Purpose of the Story? Serving Christians are busy Christians, but they are busy Christians that always make time for those in need –Never be too busy to invest in your small group - Make yourselves available to your small group

8 Loving Your Small Group on an Individual Basis Be intentional and make yourself available Make time for your small group members Set time aside beforehand and plan ahead The amount of time you spend with your small group is generally a good indicator of how important, or unimportant your small group is to you.

9 Mini-Discipleship Relationships Pray for them by name, on a regular basis Swap testimonies Give Biblical counsel Be willing to make yourself vulnerable Always be willing to give and make sacrifices Challenge them Remember that discipleship is centered around sanctification, not satisfaction –Don’t be afraid to rebuke them with the Word of God

10 Mini-Discipleship Relationships: Righteous Rebuke Have explicit scripture to back it up Make sure your rebuke is based on an aversion to personal sin rather than personal style

11 Mini-Discipleship Relationships Conclusion “ Encourage and rebuke with all authority. ” Titus 2:15 If nothing else, be encouraging and supportive Make it clear that you love and care for them

12 Accountability Proverbs 27:17 “Iron sharpens iron” Meet up weekly Make them find times to meet up before small group is over Send them questions to discuss to prompt discussion

13 Final Question to Examine your Small Group Leading Success Did you point them to Christ? –Are you challenging them to “consider Jesus?” (Hebrews 3:1)
