Guide to Using Callisto

Searching for Opportunities URL: www.callisto.berkeley.edu (requires CalNet log in for full access)www.callisto.berkeley.edu CalJobs search is to look for internships, full time jobs, part time jobs, and more – Results can be filtered based on desired position, industry, location, etc. Create a profile with your major and expected graduation date – This will filter out openings for positions whose criteria you do not meet

Understanding Listings Each listing for an opening may include information on – Location – Application due date – Salary information – Time commitment (i.e. hrs/week) With your pointer, hover over binoculars (shown in next slide) to get a quick view of: – Ideal qualifications for candidates – Timeline of when to submit resume, and interviews Click on a listing for a complete overview of the information on the position and application details

Example snapshot of listing

How to Apply for Positions Under the “My Documents” tab, ensure that you have uploaded your resume(s), cover letter(s) and/or unofficial transcript(s) – Remember to attach these to your application To apply, follow the appropriate instructions to the right of the job title on the listing page – You can select which resume/cover letter/transcript you want to attach – Remember to follow the company's instructions! (If a cover letter is required, prepare and attach one, for example.)

Other Resources on Callisto Career Fairs: Where representatives from a large number of companies gather to offer information to attendees on their company and open positions Approach these representatives, converse with them (to show your interest in their company or field), and offer to leave your resume with them Generally organized by industry or major, so be sure to attend a career fair that matches your experiences and interests Be patient when browsing career fairs on Callisto; there is currently no way to hide past events, so you must scroll down to view upcoming fairs

Other Resources on Callisto Info sessions Representatives from one or more companies present information about their companies and their openings – You will often have the chance to ask representatives questions towards the end of the event Many require an RSVP (often available through Callisto or company’s own website) – Attending without an RSVP can be possible, but if the event is full by RSVP, you will not be given priority in entering Workshops Helps to build the same kinds of skills that clubs, such as BWIB, do
