Step One: Genesis 1:27 27 So God created man in his own image, in the image of God he created him; male and female he created them.

Step Two: Genesis 29:16-18 16 Now Laban had two daughters; the name of the older was Leah, and the name of the younger was Rachel. 17 Leah had weak (or “delicate”) eyes, but Rachel was lovely in form, and beautiful. 18 Jacob was in love with Rachel and said, “I’ll work for you seven years in return for your younger daughter Rachel.”

Just One More Example… Mairead Nesbitt

Step Three: Genesis 2:23-24 23 The man said, “This is now bone of my bones and flesh of my flesh; she shall be called ‘woman,’ for she was taken out of man.” 24 For this reason a man will leave his father and mother and be united to his wife, and they will become one flesh.

Some Key Points So Far Our sexuality, our “male and female-ness”, is absolutely at the core of who we are. Our sexuality, our “male and female-ness”, is absolutely at the core of who we are. Our sexuality is the second strongest desire in our lives – next to survival. Our sexuality is the second strongest desire in our lives – next to survival. It is crucial that we understand, and teach to our children, the nature of our sexuality as a gift from God. It is crucial that we understand, and teach to our children, the nature of our sexuality as a gift from God. Satan, the great liar, can never create anything new – he can only pervert what God has already created. 11 Proverbs 7:6-27 6 At the window of my house I looked out through the lattice. 7 I saw among the simple, I noticed among the young men, a youth who lacked judgment. 8 He was going down the street near her corner, walking along in the direction of her house 9 at twilight, as the day was fading, as the dark of night set in. 10 Then out came a woman to meet him, dressed like a prostitute and with crafty intent.

Proverbs 7:6-27 11 (She is loud and defiant, her feet never stay at home; 12 now in the street, now in the squares, at every corner she lurks.) 13 She took hold of him and kissed him and with a brazen face she said: 14 “I have fellowship offerings at home; today I fulfilled my vows. 15 So I came out to meet you; I looked for you and have found you!

Proverbs 7:6-27 16 I have covered my bed with colored linens from Egypt. 17 I have perfumed my bed with myrrh, aloes and cinnamon. 18 Come, let’s drink deep of love till morning; let’s enjoy ourselves with love! 19 My husband is not at home; he has gone on a long journey. 20 He took his purse filled with money and will not be home till full moon.”

Proverbs 7:6-27 21 With persuasive words she led him astray; she seduced him with her smooth talk. 22 All at once he followed her like an ox going to the slaughter, like a deer stepping into a noose 23 till an arrow pierces his liver, like a bird darting into a snare, little knowing it will cost him his life.

Proverbs 7:26-27 24 Now then, my sons, listen to me; pay attention to what I say. 25 Do not let your heart turn to her ways or stray into her paths. 26 Many are the victims she has brought down; her slain are a mighty throng. 27 Her house is a highway to the grave, leading down to the chambers of death.

Some Final Thoughts Sexual temptation is arguably more prevalent today than at any time in human history. Sexual temptation is arguably more prevalent today than at any time in human history. More than ever, we need to understand what the Bible teaches about our sexuality. More than ever, we need to understand what the Bible teaches about our sexuality. We must not respond to the extremes of the world with extremes of our own; the answer to promiscuity is not silence, but biblical truth. We must teach our children the biblical view of human sexuality. We must teach our children the biblical view of human sexuality.
