2  Name: the Laughing owl.  Scientific name: sceloglaux,albifacies  It was reported to be Extinct in July 5 th 1914 the last one was reported to be found dead in Canterbury, New Zealand  The species lives in the island of New Zealand

3 jj The bird at the top is a photograph of the Laughing owl. Above is the color of the Laughing owl’s plumage. This is where the Bird used to live. (New Zealand is in green)

4  The Bird went extinct due to capturing of the birds chopping down forests where they make there homes and the introduction of cats and dogs.

5  Pandas are found in Central china near the Chinese steppes.

6  Common name: Giant Panda  Scientific name: Ailuropoda,melanoleuca  Recognized in 1958 by a Chinese animal control group.  The Panda became endangered because of poaching of the Pandas furs and due to loss of habitat. The Panda numbers are now up to 3,000 (taken in 2006)

7 Pandas like the ones above are still being captured and skinned for furs in some china areas some are even being taken from their mothers and caged. The ones above were born in the zoo there at.

8  Brown Pelicans are found in the western & eastern coast of the Americas but do fly inland toward fresh water lakes occasionally

9  Common name: Brown pelican or Pelican  Scientific name: Pelecanus, occindentalis  Population is now approximately 650,000  Brown pelicans numbers have greatly improved since the ban of DDT’s on crops  The recent oil spill did cause a drop in numbers though

10  The Brown Pelican is making a come back but the oil drill negatively effected the Gulf’s population of Brown pelicans. We are trying to correct the effect by setting up animal cleaners.
