“And I also say to you that you are Peter, and on this rock I will build My church, and the gates of Hades shall not prevail against it.” (Matthew 16:18). Jesus declared his intention to build his church

“And in the days of these kings the God of heaven will set up a kingdom which shall never be destroyed; and the kingdom shall not be left to other people; it shall break in pieces and consume all these kingdoms, and it shall stand forever.” (Daniel 2:44). This is the eternal kingdom of the Messiah

“…praising God and having favor with all the people. And the Lord added to the church daily those who were being saved.” (Acts 2:47). God adds one to his “church”

“Greet one another with a holy kiss. The churches of Christ greet you.” (Romans 16:16). Local groups are called “churches of Christ”

“…I write so that you may know how you ought to conduct yourself in the house of God, which is the church of the living God, the pillar and ground of the truth.” (I Timothy 3:15). Scripture teaches “conduct” in the church

(II Cor 8:1-4); Rom 15:25-26). D. Discipline of the disorderly (II Thess 3:6-15). E. Worship of God. (Acts 20:7; I Cor 11-14). The Church & The Individual

II. Are there are things that are individual but not church duties? A. Care of family (I Timothy 5:3-16). B. Common meals (I Corinthians 11:17-22; Acts 2:46). The Church & The Individual

III. Can the Church Do Everything That the Individual Can Do? A. Can the church parent children? (Ephesians 6:4). B. Can the church run a business? (I Peter 2:18-21). C. Can the church pursue a hobby? D. Can the church take a vacation? E. Can the church pursue entertainment? The Church & The Individual

IV. If Something is a “Good Thing,” Does That Authorize the Church to Do It? A. Support of human institutions. B. Providing social activities for members. (I Cor. 11). C. Extending benevolence to non- Christians (Galatians 6:10). The Church & The Individual
