2 Moscow is responsible for processing: -Temporary residence applications (TR or visitor visas) for clients in Russia, Armenia, Kazakhstan, Tajikistan, Uzbekistan and Kyrgyzstan Moscow and Warsaw share the processing of TR applications – Moscow processes applications received through Visa Application Centers (VACs); – Warsaw processing applications submitted on line (E-apps) All visas are printed at the visa section in Moscow in both cases. WE DO NOT ACCEPT MAILED-IN APPLICATIONS NOR MAILED-IN PASSPORTS What we do

3 Those include visitor visas, business visas, student permits, work permits Visitors needs to: - have a valid travel document, such as a passport, -be in good health, -convince an immigration officer that you have ties—such as a job, home, financial assets or family— that will take you back to your home country, -convince an immigration officer that you will leave Canada at the end of your visit, and -have enough money for your stay. (The amount of money you will need can vary. it depends on things like how long you will stay, and whether you will stay in a hotel or with friends or relatives.) and may need: -a medical examination and -Letter of invitation from someone who lives in Canada. 4 In some cases, you do not require a study permit to go to school in Canada You do not need a study permit if you plan to take a course or program in Canada that lasts six months or less. You must complete the course or program within the period authorized for your stay in Canada. However it may be advantageous to obtain a Study Permit even if the course of studies in less than 6 months – it will allow you to seek an “extension” of your Study permit from inside Canada if you decide to continue studying in Canada. 5 There are two ways to submit an application for a Study Permit: -Online; or -Through a Visa Application Center Information on the application process is available at: http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/study/study-before.asphttp://www.cic.gc.ca/english/study/study-before.asp. How do I apply for a Study Permit?

6 Application for a Study Permit (fully completed, dated and signed) Family composition form Schedule A form Photos Also (if applicable): Statutory Declaration of Common-law Union Custodian Declaration (required from all applicants under 17 years of age) Parental consent Declaration (required from all applicants without parent(s) under 18 years of age) Use of Representative form What do I need to apply for a Study Permit?

7 In addition to the application forms, a Student needs to provide: Proof of acceptance from a Designated Learning Institution – the original letter (not a copy) Proof of identity (passport) Proof of financial support (funds: cost of program for 1 year + 10,000 CAN) Letter of explanation (why are you going to study in Canada) Quebec schools only: Certificat d’ Acceptation du Quebec (CAQ) As with visitors, a visa officer must be satisfied that the applicant is a bona fide traveller What do I need to apply for a Study Permit?

8 1)Application is created in our processing 2)If applicable, a medical form will be sent out “at own risk” 3)The application will be reviewed for completeness 4)File will be assessed by a visa officer 5) If negative, a refusal letter will be generated and sent to the Student 6) If positive, the file will be finalized with a visa once everything is ready Typical processing times: 6 weeks (according to the CIC website) Visa Office Procedure

9 On campus: need to be full-time student, and have a valid study permit Off campus: – work up to 20 hours per week during regular academic sessions and – work full-time during scheduled breaks, such as the winter and summer holidays or spring break. Coop program: - Your intended employment must be an essential part of your program of study in Canada. - Your employment must be part of your academic, vocational or professional training program offered by a designated learning institution, certified by a letter from a responsible academic official of the institution.designated learning institution -Your co-op or internship employment cannot form more than 50% (percent) of the total program of study Working while Studying?
