3 Do you have Authority or Influence?
Do you have both? We all have INFLUENCE! (+ / - ) Many of us don’t have Authority.

4 We have to MODEL the behaviors that we want others to demonstrate to each other.

9 To MODEL influence we must be willing and able to MENTOR, COACH, and give and receive FEEDBACK to team members, co-workers, family, and other folks we come in contact with.

When meetings “SUCK” what have your meeting behaviors looked like? When meetings go well or we like “those” meetings what behaviors do we see modeled?

11 Your Role as a Meeting Attendee:
Be an AWESOME meeting attendee! Follow Ground Rules (Team Norms) Coach Team Members Strengthen and Support Team Leader Take Action Items Be part of the meeting (scribe, timekeeper, facilitator)

12 Giving and Receiving FEEDBACK
If you receive some FEEDBACK, only two words should come from you, “Thank You”

13 Permission To Give FEEDBACK Giving and Receiving FEEDBACK
If you want to Give someone some FEEDBACK you need to ask for Permission To Give FEEDBACK

14 ACTIVITY I will need a volunteer to share two minutes of an activity that you have a lot of passion for and we’ll practice giving you FEEDBACK. Do I have a volunteer or do you have to be VOLUNTOLD?

16 FEEDBACK TIPS Get permission Be specific Be timely Validates how you feel

17 MENTORING You should have at least one MENTOR
You should be MENTORING someone You are guiding someone You are sharing your experiences You are a sounding board You are not their TRAINER

18 COACHING You draw out their talent You help them develop You are the catalyst to performance You help them overcome obstacles

19 LEGACY Do you want to leave a (+) legacy? Are you leaving a (-) legacy? Will it matter….to who? Who will care…besides you? Write your own obituary.. OUCH!

20 RESOLVE CONFLICT It’s occurring as I speak
It’s been occurring from time in memorial Time will NOT HEAL most wounds You have to have a conversation Talk it out or you’ll act it out!

21 Resolve Conflict Learn to LISTEN! Cover up your Hot Buttons Make it SAFE Respond don’t React Keep it professional Aspire for a win-win

If you can’t hire or fire you probably don’t have Authority If you don’t have direct reports you probably don’t have Authority If you have Authority use it as a Last Resource!
