Bacground of the Air Waybill: The Air Waybill is neither a document of title representing to the gooods, nor a negotiable document. It serves simply for the evidence of the contract of carriage. The standard contract of carriage in the airfreight industry is the Air Waybill (AWB), also called Air Consignment Note. The Air Waybill constitutes the contract of carriage between the carrier and the shipper as defined in the IATA regulations in the Warsaw Convention in 1929.

When forwarder acts as agent for the customer (direct shipment) the contract of carriage (the carrier’AWB) is concluded between the airline and the shipper and is signed by Forwarder as agent. The Forwarder destination station should be specified as “notify party” in order to ensure a proper information flow at destination. 1> b½NÑTMnijdwkCBa¢ÚntampøÚvGakas³ Air Waybills (AWB): 3> b½NÑTMnijdwkCBa¢ÚntampøÚvGakas (Air Waybills)

This “grouping” is executed by the export hub. At the import hub, the consolidation is broken down into individual consignments. Each single consignment is covered by an individual House Air Waybill (HAWB).
