Going Away With Scheme Developed from the existing Camp and Holiday Scheme Minimum licence for all residential events is the Going Away With Licence (modules 1-4) Additional modules include: -Organise catering arrangements -Coordinate a programme of activities for participants (section specific) -Organise the care and maintenance of facilities -Organise the care and maintenance of camping equipment
7
Flexible scheme as only the modules for which the licence holder is responsible for need to be completed Once a module is completed it doesn’t need to be completed again, with the exception of the programme module which should be completed separately for Rainbows, Brownies, Guides and members of The Senior Section Those who held previous Camp and Holiday Scheme licences are still able to use these as they map across to the Going Away With Scheme
8
The Senior Section Permit This enables a member of The Senior Section to run a residential event or expedition lasting two or more nights for up to eight Guides or members of The Senior Section.

If a centre is able to offer catering, a programme and accommodation for a residential weekend then the licence holder would only need to hold the Going Away With Licence The resource Going Away With Guiding which supports the Going Away With Scheme has been updated and is available to purchase from local depots and the Girlguiding Online Shop
11
Scenario A Leader wants to take her Brownies to Blackland Farm and take part in an activity weekend with a pre-planned programme staying in the tented village. She doesn’t have a Licence - which modules would she need to complete? Going Away With Licence and module 5 (catering)
12
Large-scale events guidance Online guidance has been produced to support Event Coordinators in organising, and Commissioners in commissioning large-scale events and joint events Online guidance large-scale events are defined as events with 100 or more participants in total (participants include girls, adults and events teams) overnight or residential large-scale events will require holders of the relevant Going Away With Licence (and additional modules as relevant) to be present. No licence is required for one day events
13
Guiding Manual and A-Z of Activities This includes guidance and regulations on Girlguiding members taking part in activities. www.girlguiding.org.uk/guidingmanual www.girlguiding.org.uk/guidingmanual Included on this website is a list of prohibited activities. This includes: bungee jumping, car washing, hitch-hiking and war games However this doesn’t mean that girls can’t take part in activities such as clay pigeon shooting or using air rifles when shooting at non-animal or human-shaped targets. There are just certain age limits which apply.
17
Joint events Girlguiding does not accept Scout Association Adventurous Activity Permits. You must ensure that activities are run by instructors who hold Girlguiding or recognised NGB qualifications as listed in the A-Z of Activities. Girlguiding prohibited activities cannot take place at joint events At joint residentials both Leaders must hold or be working towards the appropriate qualification and both REN and NAN forms must be completed following the agreed processes for both organisations
18
Looking forward Adventure and the offer of residential events remain an important part of our strategic plan and all of the Guide and Scout Activity Centres play an important part in facilitating this for all of our members.
19
Over to you What do you have coming up at your centres? For example are there any new activities you are planning on offering? How do you think these updates might affect what you do? For example the flexibility of the Going Away With Scheme
