Hierarchical file system Hierarchical file system - A hierarchical file system is how drives, folders, and files are displayed on an operating system. In a hierarchical file system, the drives, folders, and files are displayed in groups, which allows the user to see only the files they're interested in seeing. For example, in the picture the Windows directory (Windows\) folder hierarchy contains the System32, Tasks, and Web folders. Each of these folders could have hundreds of their own files, but unless they are opened the files are not displayed.
2
WWW The World Wide Web (abbreviated as WWW or W3, commonly known as the Web) is a system of interlinked hypertext documents that are accessed via the Internet. With a web browser, one can view web pages that may contain text, images, videos, and other multimedia and navigate between them via hyperlinks.
3
Internet A global computer network providing a variety of information and communication facilities, consisting of interconnected networks using standardized communication protocols.
4
Intranet A local or restricted communications network, especially a private network created using World Wide Web software.
5
Extranet An intranet that can be partially accessed by authorized outside users, enabling businesses to exchange information over the Internet in a secure way. Where intranets embrace employees within a company, extranets extend outwards to offer similar functions to those working closely with the business but separate from it.

Worms and Trojan Horses A worm is: a program that copies itself repeatedly for example in memory or on a network using up resources and possibly shutting down the computer or network. A Trojan horse (named after the Greek myth) is: a program that hides within or looks like a legitimate program. A certain condition or action usually triggers it. Unlike a virus or worm it does not replicate itself to other computers.
7
Malware Computer viruses, worms and Trojan horses are classified as malware (short for malicious software) are: programs that act without the users knowledge and deliberately alter the computers operations. Other classes of malware include: backdoors and spyware. Although malware often falls into one of these classes, they often will have characteristics of one or more. E.g. MyDoom and Blaster are worms Melissa has elements of a virus, worm and Trojan.

Prevent Identity Theft Watch out for phishing websites. A Phishing website is one that presents itself as a legitimate business website however in reality is a fake one looking for your information. They may look for a username and password but also could be looking for your name, social security number, address, and other personal information. Be vigilant if a site asks for the following information: Social Security number Credit card number Bank account number Driver’s license number Home address and phone number Health insurance id or information The request for information could be legit (for example, if you are applying for a credit card); but if it was unsolicited that should be a big red flag. If you have a question whether the site is a real one for a company, visit the organization’s main web page and call their number to ask

Prevent Identity Theft Use anti-virus / anti-malware programs and update them regularly Use unique passwords for every website Don’t tell people too much personal information on social media Secure your wireless network
