4. What is Stock? Stocks are a share in the ownership of a company. Stock represents ownership of a company’s assets and earnings. As you acquire more stock, your ownership in the company increases. Shares, equity, and stock all means the same thing.

5. What Does it Mean to Own Stock? Owning a company’s stock means that you are a part owners (shareholders) of a company. As such, you have a claim (based on the percentage of shares you own) to what the company owns. This means that you own some of the furniture, the trademarks, and the contracts of the company. Also, you are entitled to share in the company’s earnings as well as the voting rights as specified in the stock.

6. How Does Your Team Build a Stock Portfolio? A Stock Portfolio is a collection of stocks within a single brokerage account. Building a stock portfolio is very much like shopping for groceries at the supermarket. You have limited funds. Several factors to consider when thinking of stocks to buy: o How long can you wait? o How much risk can you afford? o How many stocks can you afford? Picking and choosing stocks to build a portfolio really depends on who you are, what you hope to get out of the portfolio of stocks, and how much capital you have.
